Petrol and diesel use UK imperial MPG and the pump price you enter. Electric cost uses your real-world miles per kWh, allows for charging losses, and calculates the home and public percentages automatically from the home-charged miles you enter.
This is deliberately an energy-only comparison. Changing cars also affects finance, depreciation, insurance, tax, maintenance and potentially the cost of installing a home charger.
